Presented by Ella Ede It is our pleasure to have nominated this year’s Corporate Member of the year. This award honors an organization active in AMA who embodies the true strength of a membership-based organization and corporate support of the organization. Owned and operated by Alaskans, this company provides goods and services to the mining industry from their operations in Fairbanks and Anchorage. The company has been an active member of AMA since 2009, but what really makes them stand out is their support for AMA by transporting AMA and Alaska Metal Mines (AKM) equipment and event materials on their trucks between Anchorage and Fairbanks anytime that we ask. For many years now, their teams in Anchorage and Fairbanks have helped us load up boxes of T-shirts, banners, and swag for Mining Day at the Tanana Valley Fair, the AMA spring convention in Fairbanks, and Alaska Mining Day celebrations. This has saved our organizations thousands of dollars in shipping costs over the years and provided peace of mind at a busy time because we always know the goods will arrive on time and in perfect condition. Everybody at the facilities is unfailingly welcoming and helpful when one of us arrives with a car loaded with awkwardly sized boxes and random pieces of equipment. This company has been a longtime supporter of Alaska Resource Education (ARE). They have excellent working relationships within the mining community, especially in Fairbanks. The ARE board member with this company is an especially significant resource and has been since long before he joined the board. He personally donates his time to support ARE’s educational efforts in the interior, from buying hundreds of cookies to picking up our team members at the airport and escorting us during our Anchorage team’s visits, to volunteering at ARE events. He supports our Interior Program Coordinator, Naomi Mitchell, on a regular basis, assisting her with classroom visits or camps. He personally wrote a check for a local school in Fairbanks to sponsor an ARE mining field trip to Fort Knox Mine because the school district could not pay for transportation. He also advocates for ARE at every event he attends, including AMA breakfast or lunch meetings, Alliance meetings, and Fairbanks Chamber meetings.
