He was surrounded by his family. Stanley was born in Anchorage, Alaska, July 1, 1945, to Louise Knudsen Stenberg and Stanley Stenberg Sr. and was the oldest of six children. He graduated from Lathrop High School in 1963 and went directly into the military, where he was stationed on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands during the Vietnam War. Stanley married his first wife, Kathleen Halverson, in 1968, and they raised seven children together in Fairbanks. Stanley married Sherry Tate on July 20, 2006, and they celebrated their 16th anniversary this last July. Stanley was a Master Gardener and a very well-loved patriarch of his large family. He had many interests and was an avid learner. Since his retirement from the NOAA tracking station, he has spent his summer days at his mining claims, gardening, beekeeping and taking care of his apple orchard, where you would often find him surrounded by several grandchildren. Stanley was always proud to be an Alaskan and loved the outdoors. He was also a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Stanley is preceded in death by his father, Stan Stenberg Sr. (Swede); his mother, Louise Stenberg; his sister, Lana Ellis; and his brother, Roger Stenberg. He is survived by his brothers, Eric, John Paul, and Lester Stenberg; his devoted wife, Sherry Tate Stenberg; and his children, son William Stenberg (Alaska) and daughters Gingerlee Marshall (Colorado), Jaqueline Buchanan (Utah), Laurie Matthews
