LANAKILA BAPTIST SCHOOLS Giving your child an excellent education is the best investment anyone can make. For 50 years, families have chosen Lanakila Baptist School to provide their children with a quality Christian education in a warm, friendly atmosphere at an affordable price. Our well-rounded, biblically based program of study emphasizes critical thinking skills, mastery of biblical and academic fundamentals, which are vital to each student’s success in academia as well as emphasizing Christian character and patriotism. The commitment to these academic foundations has historically allowed our students to average well above national norms on achievement tests. College preparatory begins at the foundation of learning, kindergarten. Our caring teachers lay the spiritual and academic foundation of their students by teaching them the truths of God’s Word, reviewing phonetic sounds and rules, and arithmetic fundamentals. Reading comprehension skills are practiced and strengthened through other subject areas in science, history, and health. As a result, our K-6th grade students are able to critically think about the world around them from a Biblical worldview. All LBS high school students enter a liberal arts college preparatory program of study. This program prepares our students for post-secondary education by focusing on core subject skills supplemented by practical elective courses with advance math courses for students pursing a STEM Youth Education 100 degree. Extensive training in grammar, literature, and composition, along with courses in math, science, and foreign language, gives students a taste of academic rigor seen at the college level. Each fall, sophomores and juniors are given the opportunity to take the PSAT on campus. Juniors and seniors take an SAT Preparatory elective to help strengthen any weak areas they may have as they prepare to take the SAT. Additionally, in an effort to prepare for efficient college admission, all LBS seniors take the SAT twice prior to graduation. Decades of successful graduates have proven our traditional system and teaching methods to be effective, enabling 100% of our graduates to receive academic scholarships to colleges and universities of their choice. The LBS athletics program instills the values of teamwork, personal discipline, and leadership through sports. LBHS is a member of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH), while students in grades 46 participate in the Christian School Athletic League (CSAL) in volleyball and basketball. The school has two convenient campuses: the Elementary campus is in Waipahu and the Intermediate & Senior High School campus is in historic Ewa Villages on Renton Road. Enrollment is open throughout the school year on a space available basis.
