PMRF supports a variety of training exercises and developmental tests involving space, air, surface and subsurface units. PMRF can provide simultaneous real-time tracking information on participants, targets and weapons on its 42,000 square miles of sea and airspace. State of the art communication and telemetry suites, an environment virtually encroachment free, 360 days a year of sunny VFR flying weather and experience since 1958 ensure the highest probability of a successful mission. In addition to its national defense mission, PMRF is located in the jewel of the Pacific on Kauai, “The Garden Island,” and offers some of the best recreational opportunities in Hawaii. The MWR Department should be the first stop for your recreational and social needs. Our services include outdoor rentals, athletic gear and food & beverage service. The most popular asset we offer our visitors is our 26 beach cottages. Located on a 7 1/2 mile stretch of beach, our cottages offer a “front row seat” to a beautiful view of Niihau (the Forbidden Isle), Humpback Whale migrations (in season) and some of the most awesome sunsets in the world.
