To be eligible, you must be a registered owner or co-owner. If not, you must have at least co-ownership with a separate Bill of Sale or Title transfer. REGISTRATION RENEWAL There are four ways to renew a Hawaii Motor Vehicle Registration: • Hawaii DMV Now Kiosk Hawaii DMV Now Kiosks are located inside certain Safeway and Foodland stores to quickly and securely renew your vehicle registration. Any car purchased in Hawaii that is being shipped out of state must be cleared for travel through a written release by the financial institution holding the lien. An application form (DF-L-MVR-1) must be submitted to the DMV if: • Your vehicle was purchased outside of Hawaii and not registered prior to arrival • Your vehicle was previously registered in another person’s name • You are switching from out-of-state to Hawaii license plates To retain current out-of-state license plates, registration and title, you will need your current registration, shipping receipt, Hawaii state vehicle safety inspection information and Hawaii no-fault insurance card.
