As Ronald McDonald House Charities co-founder Dr. Audrey Evans said, “A family with a sick child is a sick family.” In the face of a child’s illness, every family deserves somewhere to turn. More than a place to stay, RMHC Bay Area provides a comprehensive support network of housing, meals and psychosocial support services so families with critically ill children can access lifesaving care at partner hospitals across the Bay Area. In many ways, COVID-19 has given us all a front row seat to what RMHC Bay Area families experience daily—the chaos of medical crisis upends life as we know it. In an especially tumultuous year, our community of supporters rallied to help us provide 24,000 nights of rest, distribute nearly 96,000 free meals to families with kids in the hospital, and offset more than a $11 million-worth of services for families whose children could not wait to access critical pediatric care—but we need more help. Sick children need their families, and families with sick children need an entire community of support. Join us, and you can help even more families.
